Usually when an addict leaves rehab they go back to their normal life but not everything in there life can return to the way it was. Everything from the places they used to hang out and the people they used to spend time with might have to change as a part of their new found sobriety. So if you are one of the many people who are coming home from rehab you know that nothing will ever be the same.

The same can be said, in most cases, with your job situation. You probably hurt your standing at work when you left to get help but as you are out now and looking to get your life back in order, don’t discount the idea of going back to your old job as a way to get back into the work force. There are ways to get your job back.

First things first is to not be afraid to go back to the scene of the crime, so to speak. If you were a good worker prior to your leaving the job then there will be people there that remember it. You should go back and let them know you are doing well and ready to get your life back in order. This will be a good opportunity for your former employer to inquire about your work situation. If they haven’t then that just means they might not want to pry. If they do ask then there is a good chance that there is some interest on their side about you.

The bottom line is don’t be afraid to test the waters. The worst thing they can say to you is no. That has happened to you many times in your life. The best they can do is welcome you back and give you a chance to regain control of your life. It’s worth asking.

Electric Cigarettes to Fight Your Smoking Habit

Admitting you have a problem might be the single biggest thing that helps you to overcome that problem. Once you admit it, you can find the strength to get help. If you deny that you have a problem, even when it’s blatantly obvious to those around you, it will be impossible to get help. You have to want to get better. Find a reason why you want to break the addiction and use it as motivation.

Your health is a good reason, but it usually isn’t enough. People hear about the dangers and diseases associated with cigarettes, but they feel helpless to change anything because they can’t escape the habit of smoking when stressed. Maybe there is a good way around it that you missed. Quitting with patches, gum and cold turkey have very low success rates — so what else is there?

There are electric cigarettes. You’ve probably heard about them. They’re cigarettes without all the tar and hazardous chemicals of regular cigarettes. Instead of burning tobacco and all its not-so-healthy additives, electric cigarettes vaporize water and nicotine. The vapor is harmless and still provides the realistic feeling of smoking. Since it isn’t burning anything, the second-hand smoke is actually just water vapor. It leaves no nasty residue or stains on your teeth.

If you have a constant need to smoke, taking long bus, train and airplane trips can be difficult. Electric cigarettes make no smoke, so they are perfectly safe to use anywhere — in your hotel, your car or on any public transportation.

It sounds great, but how can providing straight nicotine help you break your addiction? Electric cigarettes use cartridges of nicotine and these cartridges come in many strengths. There are electric cigarette kits made specially for people who want to quit once and for all. The cartridges in the kit decrease in nicotine strength until you are nicotine-free.

Where To Go Next?

Motivation Radio

When you make the choice to get clean and sober it becomes your only motivation. It’s the only thing you care about and so it’s easy to find yourself a little one dimensional and easily crippled with tunnel vision. You get home and everything you do is about avoiding that strong urge to get high or do things that will hurt you in the long run. But there could come a time when you realize full and well that you have battled through the toughest parts and things are looking good for you to stay sober for a long time.

So the question then becomes, what’s next? What do you do with the rest of your life when the focus of the rest of your life is no longer about beating your demons? Far be it from anyone to give you life advice but if you are lost then it might be a good idea to get yourself ready and right now.

The first thing you need to do is look at this not as a crossroads but rather as a brand new opportunity to start your life a new. There is nothing wrong with needing a little bit of help in deciding but know that your canvas is blank again and you can do anything you want from here on out. It’s one of the best things about struggle, from it comes the new beginnings.

Go back and think about your life before you got off track. What were your hopes and dreams? Did you have any goals? This is a good time to go back and revisit them and see if they are still something that can drive you to do good things. Think about getting the life back you had before things got dark. It’s amazing what a fresh start can do for you.

Soup Kitchens Adapt Recipes to Feed Large Numbers of People

Winter weather is hard on the homeless, and winter in Wisconsin is no exception. While soup kitchens operate year round serving the homeless and financially needy, they are especially busy in the winter months. Winter means many Wisconsin residents’ budgets are stretched even more tightly than normal, as they struggle to afford home heating bills, buy winter clothing, and afford basic necessities.

Soup kitchens are generally staffed by volunteers, who adapt low budget recipes to feed large amounts of hungry people. Whether their visitors are homeless, out of money until payday, children of houses where substance abuse is prevalent, or have other financial hardships, they are welcomed with open arms. Simple soups, breads, and casseroles are served — dishes that can be stretched to serve many people as cheaply as possible.

Not all recipes will work in a soup kitchen, however. Volunteers have to plan their menus based on the ingredients that are in season, available in their area, and on sale. If the price on corn goes up, corn chowder may be off the menu, replaced by potato or 12 bean soup. A soup kitchen’s goal is to feed everyone a relatively healthy meal at an affordable price. The food is simple, home cooked fare, served at the same time each week or month by a staff of volunteer cooks and servers.

Holiday meals are frequently served at soup kitchens as well; Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are especially popular. You might consider contacting a volunteer organization in your area to see about donating time, money, or groceries to support this type of charity event. Seasonal soup kitchen events make the holidays a little brighter for those who have been hit especially hard by a declining economy, so generosity is especially needed during these difficult times.

Find Your Nurse Travel Job and Take Your Skills on the Road

Many nurses are choosing a change of scenery by becoming a traveling nurse. Nurses and surgical techs may travel to different states, different cities, or different regions, in order to practice their craft. Their travel destinations typically will depend upon the region’s specific needs and upon the skills of the nurse or surgical technician. Many services are available online for matching nurses and surgical techs to specific hospitals and organizations.

Obtaining a nurse travel job requires following just a few simple steps. Many programs have easy online applications available. These applications invite nurses and surgical techs to detail their experience, discuss that experience with a placement official, offer personal and professional references and obtain information regarding licenses in the state or region in which they are interested in practicing. In most cases, nurses who want to obtain a nurse travel job will be required to obtain a temporary license for that state. Licensing requirements vary among the states. Obtaining a license may take only a few days to receive, or it may take a few months. Many placement services also offer support to the health care professional throughout the assignment period.

Needs vary depending upon the market, but a wide variety of specialties are in demand. Among others, states need pediatric intensive care unit nurses, psychiatric nurses, radiology nurses, telemetry nurses, neonatal nurses, ICU nurses, endoscopy nurses, emergency room nurses and home health nurses. Hospitals will make their selections based upon the professional’s listed skills and experience, interview the applicant, and arrange the assignment if the needs and wants of both parties align.

A Nurse travel job is a good way to see the country, meet new health care professionals and different types of patients, and expand one’s horizons of caring.
